QUEER PEER SUPPORT

istockphoto-967091454-170667a.png

Queer people disproportionately suffer from mental health issues, yet face the most barriers to adequate mental healthcare and support. We provide lgbtqia+ specialized mental health care through a free peer support space run by queer people online.

ABOUT PEER SUPPORT SPACES

Peer Support Tailored to Your Needs

What is a peer support group? A peer support group is a regular gathering of individuals with shared lived experience of mental illness, poverty, cultural backgrounds etc. During these groups individuals come together, overseen by a trained peer support specialist or facilitator, to talk with one another about their experiences, struggles and challenges. A peer support group is a freeing experience, as these individuals realize “I am not alone,” and hope and trust grow among them. Taking a perspective of “I have been there” over a clinical approach.
